Graduates are more likely to support their Alma master fund-raising projects than someone who has never been to that academic institution. They can get volunteers, sponsorship, comments and feedback on their academic research easily from their alumni.

Graduates who are still communicating with their former academic institutions have admitted that they also benefit from this relationship. They feel like since the university asks and listens to their opinions at some things, they will have the power to keep it under good control. They say when a university makes an recalculated move, its reputation may be severely damaged and as a result, the qualification they obtained from it will also lose value. So they want to stay connected to protect the value of their qualification.

Alumni often share things they know about their institution to prospective students and their colleagues at the workplace. When there is no relationship between them and their Alma mater, they will share outdated and irrelevant information because they won't know your recent activities. They can attract new project donors from the companies they work for if they know about current activities and projects going on in the university; that is why it is important to maintain this relationship.

Others will come back to give current students mentor-ship and career advice's because they now know on a professional level how the industry operates. Those who have their own companies or who have influence in the recruitment matters where they work can offer internships and/or permanent placements to the current students. There are some companies which recruit students from a specific institution only, for example. This happens when an institution have a good relationship with its graduates, the number of unemployed graduates in the future will decrease.

Others become mentors and career guiders because they just want to give back. So the students from their old universities may never struggle to get employed since they will be first preferences when they apply.When a former graduate accomplishes something in their professional work, the institution will be able to recognize this achievement and benefit from it too. For example, if the alumni finds a cure for cancer, the university can proudly publish that, people will know that it produces intelligent graduates and thus its reputation and status will only go higher.

Most of them have annual events where alumni with outstanding performances at their be gifted are given university recognition awards. When the world hears about this, they see students from that institution as the right candidates to be employed in their companies.

Should the alumni wish to go back to their Alma mater to further their studies, they will have a better chance of being admitted than a first timer, because the university know their qualities at the work place. The institution can even see them as suitable candidates for its research even before they could apply for the program.

The relationship between academic institutions and their alumni is a very healthy one, both of them benefit from it. So institutions are advised to have this kind of relationship with their graduates.
